What the Professional Bio Doesn't Tell You

Family is first with me.

I am blessed with an amazing family who support and nurture each other
while pushing, coaxing, and basically driving each other crazy!  Holidays are about family and I love to cook for a crowd.  The door is continually open and we can always find room for one more at the table.  piggyback.jpg

Childhood holiday meals usually included sheets of plywood atop the dining room table to accommodate the huge crowds – even then we were so many we often had to eat in shifts!

My first love was the theatre.

hats1.jpgI began dancing at three years old, acting at 6 and performed in my first professional play at age 8.

I was convinced I would be a star.  To that end, I studied Theatre Performance and English Literature attaining my BA in 1994 from Acadia University.  After I graduated, I opened Footlight Theatre Company and enjoyed sharing my love of the arts with dozens of students over the next several years.

My family loves the outdoors.  We grew up on horseback with fishing rods and snowshoes as toys.  That appreciation for nature extended into my adult life and I am a long-time outdoorswoman with over 15 years of leadership experience.  I hold a diploma in Adventure Recreation, with many industry certifications and am dedicated to an active lifestyle.  woodypointpaddle.jpegI spent seasons working in the Adirondack Mountains at a residential camp and off Grand Manan Island aboard a 50-ft whale-watching schooner.

Hiking, paddling, skiing, cooking for friends and family, and spending time in the wild are how I spend much of my personal time.  I love to be outside and there is no better way to heal the spirit than with the soft salve of blue water and gentle breeze.  I am especially looking forward to introducing my beautiful baby daughter, Marlowe, to the great outdoors!

nooneofus.jpeg.jpgBorn in Manitoba, I spent most of my formative years in the Maritimes, and developed a belief that the East Coast is a collective wealth of diverse communities united in a common value system and by our proximity to the Atlantic Ocean.

This sense of community and solidarity is becoming more important in a society where the values of teamwork and collegiality seem to be diminishing.  I believe that each member of the team has a contribution to make and that we must all learn from and support each other.  These are the values I will bring to you in our work together.

I have lived and worked in three countries on two continents.  I've worked as a waitress, a law clerk, a flight attendant and an actor.  I've owned a restaurant, a bar, a health food store, and a paintball field.  I've lived on a 40-ft sailboat, in a downtown city apartment, a Paris high-rise and on a self-sufficient commune.  I have loved, lost, experienced joy and pain and I proudly carry the battle scars to prove it all.

I’ve travelled throughout Europe, North America and the Caribbean. I've explored beautiful cities, wondered at vast mountaintops, marveled at rainforests and jungles but I always come home to the ocean.

I find my peace, my passion, and my anchor in the salt and spray of the stormy, blue-grey Atlantic.  I hope to share a small portion of that with you.  Welcome to living your life "Beyond the Impossible"
